Marbella — Unique, friendly and authentic

Located on the Nicoya Peninsula in the province of Guanacaste, Marbella is one of the remaining jewels on the Pacific Coast. Marbella happens to be in the center of one of the seven designated “Blue Zone” areas of the world where people live measurably longer, active lives.

Unlike other, more well known areas, Marbella has an exceptional feeling of tranquility attributable to its harmonious relationship with nature. This area features pristine rivers, unspoiled mountains, breathtaking ocean views, and beautiful private beaches. Marbella is famous for its consistently excellent surf breaks, attracting visitors from all around the world.

Marbella is about a ninety-minute drive on well-maintained roads from Liberia International Airport. It is less than an hour’s drive from Tamarindo (North) and 40 minutes to Nosara (South), both of which are served by regional airports, making access very easy. The land and home values of both of these nearby towns have risen dramatically in recent years, positioning Marbella perfectly for growth and development.

The town of Marbella has a population of approximately 600, and the people are known to be exceptionally friendly. The local economy is supported largely by fishing and agriculture.

Jeff Allen and Ian Silverberg of the Marbella Group have worked diligently to shelter Marbella from the excessive development that occurred in northern Guanacaste over the past decade, by purchasing the majority of the developable land and putting a master plan in place that will preserve the environment. Largely due to those efforts, Marbella today represents an unspoiled, ideal location to create the Costa Dorada community.

GUANACASTE — Home of the Gold Coast Costa Rica.

Long summer days and beautiful beaches best define what Guanacaste is all about. A province for exploration, Guanacaste draws visitors with its stunning shoreline, incredible bird watching, horseback riding, excellent surfing and snorkeling, and the exciting challenges of mountain lake windsurfing. With so much to do, it’s easy to understand why so many people come to visit this amazing province.

Forming the eastern border of Guanacaste is a chain of volcanoes that stretch out to join the Cordillera de Guanacaste and Cordillera de Tilaran mountain ranges. Offering some truly terrific hiking facilities, tourists can trek their way to the summit of a number of volcanoes, including Rincon de la Vieja Volcano area, to enjoy some really breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.

Lush, dense forests play host to a fabulous array of exotic plant and wildlife, and many rare and endangered animals such as jaguars and tapirs. From these mountains also flow various rivers that roll down to form an alluvial plain drained by the Rio Tempisque. This river, in turn, nurtures the farms and fields of the province before emptying into the Golfo de Nicoya.
A region steep in culture, the name Guanacaste is derived from the word quahnacaztlan, which is a native word for the Guanacaste tree, the national tree of Costa Rica.

One of the easiest ways to reach Guanacaste is to fly into the Liberia International Airport. This airport receives flights from all over the world especially the continental U.S. and is a major reason why tourism has boomed in this region. Most major points of interest within this region are accessible off the Pan-American Highway (Hwy. 1). Scenic in its own right, the Pan-American Highway moves northwest through Guanacaste and continues almost to the Nicaraguan border.

Costa Rica — Nature and peace.

Costa Rica is the most politically stable country in Central America. With a long history of democratic governance, Costa Rica is known as the “Switzerland” of the region. Costa Rica is approximately the size of West Virginia with a population of approximately 5 million people.

As one of the most ecologically diverse places on the planet, it is a major tour is t destination. The low cost of living, along with attractive incentives for foreign retirees, makes Costa Rica a desirable retirement destination. Unlike other Central and South American countries, Costa Rica features a first rate medical system with modern facilities which has resulted in a flourishing medical tourism industry.

Land and housing prices in Costa Rica increased significantly over the last 15 years and although the market cooled during the world-wide economic slow-down, Costa Rica has recovered well and is still well positioned for attractive near and long-term land and housing appreciation as real estate markets continue to strengthen and tourism continues to flourish.

A growing trend among tourists and homebuyers is desire for a more authentic experience in less developed areas, increasing the demand for projects like Costa Dorada, which are environmentally sensitive and provide economic and social benefits to the local community.
